About QIMR Berghofer:
QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of cancer, infectious diseases, mental health and chronic disorders. About the Immunology in Cancer and Infection Laboratory:
Our laboratories have over 25 international immunologists and cancer biologists working to understand how the immune system combats cancer and to develop new therapies for patients. The labs conducts both basic and preclinical research in a field that is producing dramatic improvements in the treatment of cancer patients.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
In this role, you will provide essential support to the labs by helping to manage transgenic and knockout mouse colonies, including genotyping by PCR and phenotyping by flow cytometry.
You will provide operational support through equipment and laboratory upkeep, purchasing and record keeping.
The position involves frequent interaction with the researchers and offers the chance to be part of world class research by assisting the researchers in their experiments.
As an experienced animal technician or junior RA, this position offers you an excellent opportunity to expand your laboratory experience and grow your skill base.
The role will suit people who are comfortable working with experimental animal colonies and who enjoy an interesting and dynamic workplace.
You will need a diploma or Bachelor level qualification in Science, Animal Technology or similar.
You will also need enthusiasm for working in a team environment and be confident communicating with people of diverse background.
You should be self directed, be able to complete tasks independently and value precision and accuracy.
Demonstrated experience in PCR or flow cytometry is desirable.
Remuneration: Salary range is $63,595 to $75,782 per annum, plus super and salary packaging benefits. This is a full time appointment for 2 years with the possibility of extension.
