About the Tumour Immunology Group:

The Tumour Immunology Group studies human immune responses against a range of viruses and uses this information to develop prophylactic and therapeutic strategies for virus-associated malignancies and viral infections. As a Clinical Research Coordinator, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a phase I/II clinical trial of a novel combination immunotherapy strategy to treat brain cancer. The successful candidate will coordinate research activities at a clinical trial site, including evaluation and recruitment of eligible participants, the implementation of the study protocol, and completing/collating study documentation. This clinical trial is also supported by Project Managers at QIMR Berghofer.

Role Purpose / Responsibilities:  

In this role, you will proactively coordinate the clinical trial in accordance with the study protocol, applicable regulations, guidelines and institute policies. You will assist in recruiting patients in a manner that reflects the sensitivities of the protocol, coordinate participants' tests and procedures, and liaise effectively with other members of the study team to ensure the successful implementation of the trial. You will undertake assessments and record source data as dictated by the trial protocol and undertake efficient, accurate and timely data entry using REDCap (electronic case report forms).

About you: 

We are seeking applicants with a university degree in a relevant health or biological science field and a minimum of 2 years' experience as a clinical research associate, clinical trial coordinator or research nurse, with a demonstrated understanding of medical/therapeutic area knowledge and medical terminology. Experience in clinical trial coordination and data management, current ICH GCP accreditation and a demonstrated understanding of the NHMRC National Statement and TGA regulations are essential. Desirable attributes include: experience with the Australian hospital and health system, experience in or with hospital cancer clinics, and practical experience working with people with cancer. Applicants should have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary study team.

Remuneration: Salary range is $61,496 to $68,277 p.a. plus super and salary packaging. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), fixed-term appointment for 18 months, with possible extension dependant on funding. You must be available to work on Tuesdays; other hours and days are negotiable.
