About QIMR Berghofer:

QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of Cancer, Infection and Inflammation, Brain and Mental Health, and Population Health. Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.

About Your Lab: The laboratory of Cancer Metabolism aims to understand how cells adapt to divergent metabolic stressors and how this is related to carcinogenesis (for more info: https://www.halberglab.com/)

Role Purpose / Responsibilities: 

The following duties will apply but not limited too:

  • You will develop new mouse models of breast cancer through intraductal injection of lentivirus
  • You will perform in vivo studies of cancer development in mice challenged with different diets
  • You will perform in vitro cancer studies

About you:

  • You are required to have obtained an Honours or Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • You are required to have practical experience producing and working with lentivirus
  • You are required to have practical experience with intra-ductal mammary injections in mice
  • You have experience working laboratory animals
  • You have experience working with cancerous and non-cancerous cell lines

Remuneration: Salary range is $80,468 to $89,090 plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years.
